How to use a podcast clipping API in a repeatable content operation
A recurring podcast schedule needs more than a folder of finished videos: it needs a dependable handoff from recording to editorial review. The MXPROCESS Podcast Clip Generator can be used in the interface or through its authenticated API to turn one authorized audio or video source into structured short-form assets for your existing content operation.
Start with one source and explicit choices
The service accepts one owned podcast file in common audio and video formats, including MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG, Opus, FLAC, WebM, MP4, MOV and MKV. In the API request, send the service or action name, the file and rights confirmation. Choose clipCount from one to six, a targetDuration from 15 to 60 seconds, language, platform, subtitle style and an optional podcast title.
The defaults are three clips, 45 seconds, automatic language detection, YouTube Shorts and Classic subtitles. Captions default to enabled. Maximum Clips requests six clips; Highlight Reel is optional. These choices are useful to make a recurring brief consistent, but each recording still determines which usable passages actually exist.
Track asynchronous work and collect the right files
The API runs asynchronously and returns tracking information, so a CMS, project board or approval tool can wait for completion instead of blocking an editor. The completed package can include vertical clip MP4 files, SRT and WebVTT captions, thumbnails, clip JSON, a transcript JSON, chapters, quotes, social-post material, platform publication JSON and an extensible output JSON document.
Use the output as a handoff record: store the source episode alongside the returned transcript, attach the selected clip to a campaign card and send the editor the matching metadata. Platform-specific titles, descriptions and hashtags are suggestions to review, not facts to publish unchanged. Scores and indicators help triage; they do not predict reach or outcomes.
Design a controlled publishing lane
A media network might submit every approved episode after recording, then create one review task for each returned clip. An agency can keep each client source and result package in a separate campaign folder. A product team can pass only approved metadata to its CMS. In every case, the API integrates with a workflow; it does not take over publication.
MXPROCESS does not post to social platforms automatically. Keep a human gate for rights, guest consent, factual claims, captions, brand language and scheduling. The required rightsConfirmed value is a prompt to make that ownership check explicit before processing, especially for music, trademarks and third-party material.
Make repeatability useful, not repetitive
Use different target channels or subtitle styles when the campaign requires it, and let the returned candidates guide the editorial selection. Maximum Clips can surface up to six distinct moments for a rich episode; it is not a reason to publish six similar messages. A Highlight Reel can be routed to a trailer review separately from the individual clips.
When your team is ready, begin at the Podcast Clip Generator page, test the review path with an authorized episode, then connect the API tracking and result collection to the approval process you already trust.
